Standard Examination in High School Science (SHESS)

The Standard Examination in High School Science (SEHSS) is a national-level science benchmark designed by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). It specifically targets students who want to test their scientific temperament but may have missed the age-eligibility window for the NSEJS.

At MHS World School, we encourage our students to take the SEHSS as a primary tool to sharpen their logical thinking and analytical skills before transitioning into senior-secondary competitive environments.

Key Features of SEHSS (2025-26)

The SEHSS is designed to be a "voluntary and stress-free" assessment that provides a level playing field for students across all educational boards.

  • Target Group: Students of Class 10 or lower (primarily Classes 8, 9, and 10).
  • Unique Eligibility: Unlike the NSEJS, there is no strict age restriction for SEHSS, provided the student has not yet passed their Class 10 board exams.
  • Subject Balance: The exam gives equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics (15 questions each), ensuring a holistic evaluation of a student's scientific foundation.

Recognition and Rewards

Top performers in SEHSS receive significant national-level recognition:

  • Zonal Merit: The top 25 students from each of the five zones (East, West, North, South, Central) are invited to the Orientation Camp for Science Excellence (OCSE)—a 10-day residential program focused on theory and experiments.
  • State & National Toppers: Students in the top 1% receive Merit Certificates and Book Prizes.
  • Cash Awards: The top 3 students in the country can receive cash prizes (provided they continue with Physics in Class 11).
